MAC reviews shortage occupation list

The Migration Advisory Committee has published its review of the shortage occupation list, A company than employs somone in a 'shortage occupations' can pay them less than the minimum threshold for experienced workers – currently set at £25,600. BFM will report in more detail soon on the MAC review but our initial analysis indicates no change as far as furniture production occupations are concerned..

This means that while most furniture occupations will qualify for a work visa, these will be still subject to the £25,600 salary threshold and to obtaining the necessary points under the new system, which will come into force in January. Machine sewers from the EU or eslswhere however will not be eligible to work in the UK.
