New National Minimum Wage Rates

The Government has accepted the independent Low Pay Commission’s (LPC) recommendations for this year’s National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates. The youth rates are frozen.  Below are the rates effective from 1st October 2012:

The adult rate will increase by 11p to £6.19 an hour - an increase of 1.81%
The rate for 18-20 year olds will remain at £4.98 an hour
The rate for 16-17 year olds will remain at £3.68 an hour and
The rate for apprentices will increase by 5p to £2.65 an hour - an increase of 1.92%.

Last week the BFM and GMB finalised the 2012 Wages and Conditions Agreement for the Furniture Manufacturing industry.  For more information on this and how the new rates will affect that agreement please contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
