In January this year, at 92.7, the index of UK furniture production was down 6.6% on the same month last year and for 2020 as a whole it was unsurprisingly 23.1% less than in 2019. On a better note, from April last year, the index figures have increased each month from the April low of 32.1.

Measured in £ sterling, at £591 million, total turnover in January 2021 was down by 15.3% compared to January last year, athough it was up on December 2020 by 5.3%. In April 2020, that figure stood at £224.8 million. Turnover for 2020 compared to 2019 was down by 21.7%.

Note; Turnover includes most items that contribute to a company’s turnover, including for example the sale of products manufactured by sub-contractors or invoiced services.
