Review of fire safety regulations on-going
The Chairman of the British Furniture Confederation, Paul HS Von der Heyde wrote to BIS (Department of Business Innovation and Skills0 to ask for an update on the review of the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (FFRs). The response from the Environmental and Product Regulation Section is attached and it confirms that the review is still on-going and that a principle intention if possible is to reduce the usage of flame retardant chemicals. The Amended Regulations are intended to be put in place by the end of 2013.
Matthew O’ Flynn of Meadowmead is representing the BFM in the consultation process.
