BFM join forces with The People’s Pension to educate on auto-enrolment
B&CE, the workplace pension provider to over 1.6 million people, has developed The People’s Pension and is joining forces with the British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM), to educate its membership on the forthcoming pension reforms. It will be compulsory for virtually all businesses to enrol their employees into a pension scheme. With many of its members now due to commence auto-enrolment around late 2014, early 2015, BFM will be promoting The People’s Pension, to its members using a combined branding approach.
As a not-for-profit organisation with no shareholders to pay, B&CE had previously built up a strong customer base within the construction industry, and it now offers its services to furniture manufacturers’ and associated companies to the trade.
The announcement means that the two organisations will work together with BFM’s membership that covers domestic, contract, office and kitchen manufacturers as well as a number of suppliers to the industry and retailers.
Brian Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer at B&CE comments “We believe that trade associations and federations are vital to the health of smaller companies in the UK. Over the next couple of years, one of the largest impacts that BFM’s members will face will be the workplace pension reforms that introduce automatic enrolment. We’re delighted to be working with the association to help educate its members on the importance of having a strategy in place early to minimise the impact these changes will bring.”
He continues “Our real solution to auto-enrolment in The People’s Pension will provide members with a simple, flexible, hassle-free solution to a workplace pension and our experience in administering pension schemes for the past 30 years, gives us first-hand experience and proven systems to implement auto-enrolment, allowing employers within BFM’s membership to concentrate on running their businesses.”
BFM’s Managing Director, Jackie Bazeley, says “BFM has been representing the interests of the furniture industry for more than 60 years. These changes will have a fundamental effect, both from a cost and compliance perspective, on all our members. We want to ensure they are as ready as they can be for auto-enrolment when it is introduced and we’re delighted to be working with The People’s Pension directly to ensure this is the case.”
