Nick Garratt, previously Managing Director of ercol, is to become new head of BFM.

Jackie Bazeley will stay on in a part-time capacity to assist with the next London Fabric event—which takes place in February—and the EU - Erasmus + funded SupportAbility project, before fully retiring from the organisation mid-2019.

Nick Garratt said: "Having served on the BFM board for a number of years I would like to thank Jackie for the terrific job she has carried out modernising and moving the organisation forward. It is now a real privilege for me to now step up to the role as managing director. I am looking forward to working with the team and the board to further improve the service we offer to our members."

Nick spent 13 years at ercol, the past five as MD, and before that held senior positions at heritage furniture, Parker Knoll and bedding brands including Silentnight.

Jackie Bazeley said: the BFM "is in safe hands" with Mr Garratt's appointment and that he will advance the organisation for the benefit of members. I wish both him and the association all the best for the future. I am now looking forward to spending time with my partner, family and friends."

The announcement of Nick Garratt as MD coincides with BFM naming Lisa Williamson to the newly created role of education and training manager.

Lisa joins the association from a senior management position in operations and quality at Occupational Awards Limited (OAL). In the new role, Ms Williamson will be responsible for working with the industry to continue to develop and promote apprenticeship standards.
