The BFM has been tracking input costs for a few years now and with recent additions to its service, a new monthly report has been launched for all of its members.
The report looks at trends in input costs typically faced by furniture manufacturers. It includes market reports on the price of fibres and polyurethane foam chemicals, as well as price expectations for the coming weeks.
Mike Dimond, Director of Membership Affairs, said ‘Materials costs can be significant for many furniture makers and if they know the trend, they can plan ahead as well as achieve price reductions when they see costs fall, as is the case at the moment for foam chemicals, upholstery fibres and leather hides’.
The monthly report covers prices / indices for:
- Energy and fuel
- Foam chemicals
- Timber, wood, veneer & composites
